As a legal affairs manager, you are the in charge of the legal concerns of companies. You draft and negotiate contracts with partners domestically and overseas, but also advise management and the company’s departments on legal issues.

As a contract manager, you test the effectiveness of contract clauses, analyse whether contractual regulations are practically enforceable, and assess potential process risks. Moreover, you draft various types of contracts and provide consultation services.

Since legal issues play a significant role in HR work, specialists with legal knowledge are needed in this area. As a member of the HR department, for example, your tasks include analysing your company's plans and assessing their feasibility under employment law. In addition to this, you are responsible for drafting employment contracts, negotiating with the works council, and legally assessing issues related to pay scale law.

If you want to become a lawyer or judge, you'll first need to study law and pass both the first and second state examinations. It takes at least seven years to qualify as a fully qualified lawyer, and many students choose to take longer so they can prepare thoroughly for these demanding exams. By contrast, the Bachelor of Laws in Wirtschaftsrecht equips you with specialist expertise closely linked to business administration. After earning your Bachelor of Laws in Wirtschaftsrecht, you can start your career straight away—although only in roles related to commercial law. To qualify as a fully qualified lawyer, the state examinations are still required.
