Good news: IU deliberately does not have a numerus clausus (NC). You won’t have to go through a strenuous selection process or have waiting semesters credited to you, because none of our degree programmes have an NC. We prefer to talk to you personally and find out together where your talents and strengths lie and, above all, what goals you want to pursue with your studies. Please note that you have to take a design aptitude test as an admission requirement for the dual study programme in architecture according to § 68 (2) ThürHG. You can also study the bachelor’s programme „Architektur“ as a dual degree at the following study locations: Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart.

Yes, this is possible at IU. In addition to the entrance qualification in the form of an Abitur or Fachabitur, interested students without an Abitur also have the opportunity to enter our Bachelor's programme. You can study Architecture* without an Abitur or a high school diploma if you are a state-certified technician/business economist, have a master craftsman's certificate or have at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of subsequent work experience.

The Bachelor of Architecture* has a duration of 8 semesters and consists of 180 ECTS credits.

Whether large or small building projects, with your degree in Architecture, you will have a good foundation to further develop your career. Later, you will coordinate and oversee construction projects of all kinds and sizes. With your expert knowledge, you will be perfect, for example, as a project manager in an architectural office, in the public sector or in the construction industry.
